The startup visa is a special visa category that lets foreign founders, employees and investors launch and grow startups in France.

Who can get the startup visa

The program is designed for three categories of applicants.

Founders of innovative startups

  • A business plan for the startup is required
  • Financial resources to carry out the project are required
  • The startup must be pre-approved by French government bodies

Startup employees

  • An employment contract for more than 3 months with a startup company
  • Annual income of at least €37,000

Investors

  • A stake of at least 10% in the startup company
  • Investment of at least €300,000
  • A commitment to create jobs over the next 4 years

Tax breaks for startups

France offers tax breaks for startup projects: corporate tax is charged only from the 3rd year of operation and at 25% of the standard rate, 50% in the 4th year and 75% in the 5th. The full rate has to be paid only from the 6th year.

How long does the application take?
The process can take 3 to 5 months.
I am a startup founder. Where do I start?
Find a friendly incubator in France that is interested in developing your project and get a letter of support from it. You will need it for the visa to be approved by the French Ministry of the Economy.
