It suits travellers curious about Central Africa rather than sightseers: there is not much to tick off and infrastructure is limited. Two or three days cover the Sainte-Anne basilica, the Congo river corniche and the artists' quarter of Poto-Poto. Kinshasa sits directly across the water, the two capitals facing each other.

Best time to visit Brazzaville?

The main dry season runs roughly June to September, when it is cooler and drier. In the wet months downpours are short but heavy and unpaved roads suffer. It stays hot and humid for most of the year.

Is Brazzaville safe?

Daytime in the centre is usually fine, but pickpocketing and street robbery happen and walking after dark is a bad idea.
