When is the best time to visit Monrovia?

November to April is the dry season and the only genuinely comfortable window. From May to October the rain is extreme - Monrovia is one of the wettest capitals in the world - and roads wash out. It stays hot and humid all year.

Is Monrovia safe?

The main risks are muggings and pickpocketing, especially after dark and on the beaches. Locals do not walk at night, do not carry valuables and do not leave bags unattended on the sand. The surf has strong rip currents, so only swim where other people already are.

How many days do you need in Monrovia?

Two or three: the National Museum, Providence Island, the Ducor hotel ruins for the view over the city, and the beaches at Mamba Point and CeCe. The city is small but slow to move around, so hiring a car with a driver helps. One real advantage for visitors is that English is the official language.

Can you move to Liberia?
