The city is small and walkable in a day or two. Most travellers then head upriver into the rainforest, which is the main reason people come to Suriname.

Best time to visit Suriname?

There are two drier windows, roughly February to April and August to November, and both suit the city and jungle trips. In the wet seasons the downpours are heavy but short, more of a nuisance than a trip killer. It is hot and humid all year.

What language is spoken in Suriname?
