Best time to visit Paris?

April to June and September to October are the sweet spots: warm, long days and no peak summer queues. In August a fair number of small restaurants and shops close for the holidays and the city belongs to tourists. Winter is grey and damp, but the museums are empty and flights are cheaper.

How many days in Paris?

Three days is the minimum for a first visit: the Louvre, the Orsay, the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and the Ile de la Cite. Four or five let you add Versailles and simply wander without rushing. Book timed tickets for the big museums and the tower in advance or you will lose hours in line.

Is Paris safe?

Violent crime rarely touches visitors, but pickpockets are a genuine problem on the metro, at the Eiffel Tower, on Montmartre and around the big stations. Keep your phone and bag close, especially in crowds and on escalators. Some areas near the northern stations feel rough at night, though ordinary caution is enough.

Is France a good place to move to?

Paris offers a deep job market, strong healthcare and unmatched culture, but housing is expensive and renting without a French guarantor is hard. For non EU citizens the usual routes are a work contract, the talent passport for specialists and founders, study, or a long stay visitor visa that does not allow work.
