Is Tirana worth visiting?

For a couple of days, yes. Skanderbeg Square, the Et'hem Bey Mosque, the National History Museum, the BunkArt bunker museums and the once closed Blloku district give a solid cross section of 20th century Albanian history. The city is colourful, cheap and lively in the evenings. From there it is a short hop to the coast or to Berat and Gjirokaster.

Best time to visit Albania?

May to June and September to October are ideal: warm without the July heat and without the crowds on the coast. Summer in Tirana is baking, and half the city heads to the sea. Winter is mild and rainy, with the lowest prices of the year.

Is Tirana cheap?

Tirana is one of the cheapest capitals in Europe, with coffee, lunches, transport and rent all well below EU levels. Central rents are climbing as remote workers arrive, but the gap with Italy or Greece is still wide.
