In 2026, Jordanian citizenship by investment offers a fast route to a second passport in about 3 months with no residency requirement. Jordan is a stable Middle Eastern country at the crossroads of Asia, Europe and Africa, with cooperation agreements across the Gulf states.

Legal basis

Jordan's investment citizenship program was approved by the government to attract foreign direct investment. Decisions on granting a passport are made by a special commission under the Ministry of Investment, with subsequent approval by the Council of Ministers. Candidates undergo background and financial checks. No more than 500 applications are approved per year.

Investment options

  • Bank deposit. A non-interest-bearing deposit of $1,000,000 with the Central Bank of Jordan for at least 3 years.
  • Government bonds. Jordanian treasury bonds from $1,000,000, held for at least 6 years.
  • Shares of local companies. Shares or stakes in Jordanian companies from $1,000,000, bought via licensed brokers and held for at least 3 years.
  • Investment project with job creation. From $1,000,000 in Amman (at least 20 jobs) or from $750,000 in another region (at least 10 jobs), operating for at least 3 years.

Jordan allows dual citizenship — you don't need to give up your first passport. There is no requirement to know Arabic, pass history exams, or live in the country.

Benefits of a Jordan passport

Fast process

You receive the passport in about 3 months from filing a complete application. There is no requirement to live in the country while your case is processed.

Business opportunities

Access to markets in Asia, Europe and Africa, plus special partnerships with the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.

Access to banks

It is easier for a Jordanian citizen to open a local bank account, and compliance checks at foreign banks are smoother thanks to Jordan's medium financial-risk profile.

Dual citizenship

Jordan officially allows dual citizenship — you don't need to renounce your first passport.

How to get Jordan citizenship: step by step

Document preparation and choosing an option

You gather your documents (passports, birth and marriage certificates, police clearance, proof of source of funds) and choose an investment option.

Application submission

The formal application is filed with the unit under the Ministry of Investment, together with forms, fee receipts and your documents. Biometrics may be required.

Screening and preliminary approval

Authorities conduct due diligence on your background, finances and source of funds. Once cleared, the Ministry issues preliminary approval.

Making the investment

You make the required investment under the chosen option and provide proof — bank confirmations, securities certificates or employment reports.

Passport issuance

After the investment is confirmed, the government issues a formal citizenship decision. You take the oath and receive your Jordanian passport within days.
