Business accounts: Turkey

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a foreigner open a bank account for a Turkish company?
Yes, this is a well-trodden route: register the company, get a tax number, then open the account. A director or authorised signatory attends the bank in person with notarised documents and translations.
Does the director need a Turkish residence permit?
Not by law, but many banks ask for a residence permit, a Turkish address and a local phone number anyway. Without them your choice of banks narrows and the review takes longer.
Why do Turkish banks refuse clients or close accounts?
Since 2023 banks have sharply increased screening of clients and payments connected to Russia because of secondary sanctions risk. Refusals and account closures happen even with clean paperwork, and there is essentially no way to appeal the decision.
Are there currency rules for business in Turkey?
Yes. Certain contracts between residents must be settled in lira, and exporters face requirements to convert part of their proceeds. These rules have changed several times, so check the current percentages and exemptions before you structure a deal.
