Can you travel to Khartoum right now?

Sudan has been in armed conflict since April 2023, and Khartoum has been badly damaged, with museums and civic infrastructure looted or destroyed. Most governments tell their citizens to leave the country and not to enter, and many embassies are evacuated or working at minimum capacity. This is not a travel destination at the moment.

What is the weather like in Khartoum?

Khartoum is one of the hottest large cities on earth. From May to September daytime highs sit around 40 and above, and haboob dust storms sweep in during summer. The only tolerable window is roughly November to February, when days are near 30 and nights cool down.

Do you need a visa for Sudan?

Practically every nationality needs one in advance, usually backed by an invitation from a host. Consular services have been unreliable since the conflict began and requirements have shifted, so any older guidance is out of date. Check directly with a currently operating consulate.

Is Sudan an option for relocation?

No. The economy is in crisis, banking and currency transfers are difficult, and both security and supply chains are unpredictable. Even international organisations have scaled back their presence. For a regional base, Egypt, Kenya or the Gulf states make far more sense.
