Honestly, it is the strangest and emptiest capital in Southeast Asia, a built-from-scratch city with twenty-lane highways and almost nobody on them. There is the Uppatasanti Pagoda, the park of scale-model landmarks and the gems museum, and a single day is more than enough. Myanmar's real draws are Yangon, Bagan and Inle, not the capital.

Is it safe to travel to Myanmar?

The country has been in conflict since the 2021 coup, many governments advise against travel, and insurance often excludes it.
