Business accounts: Armenia

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a foreign company open a bank account in Armenia?
Yes, Armenian banks do open accounts for foreign entities, but the review is tougher than for local companies. You need legalised corporate documents with translation, beneficial owner details and a clear description of the business. Some banks only take companies with a visible link to the region.
Do I need to visit Armenia to open a company account?
Usually yes - the director or an authorised signatory attends the bank in person. Opening by power of attorney is possible at some banks and has to be agreed in advance. Fully remote corporate account opening is the exception, not the rule.
What does compliance at an Armenian bank check?
The ownership chain down to individuals, citizenship and tax residence of the owners, the nature of your transactions, counterparty countries and sanctions exposure. Since 2022 Armenian banks have tightened screening of payments linked to sanctioned persons and goods. Refusal or account closure over sanctions risk is a real scenario.
How long does it take to open a company account in Armenia?
With a complete file, typically a few business days to a few weeks. Delays come from legalising foreign documents and follow-up compliance questions. Timelines differ by bank, so ask before you apply.
