Business accounts: Azerbaijan

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can I open a company bank account in Azerbaijan?
Yes, local banks open accounts for Azerbaijani companies, including those with foreign owners. An account directly for a foreign entity is harder and not every bank will do it. The usual path is to register a local company and bank in its name.
Do I have to go to Azerbaijan to open a company account?
As a rule yes - the director or an authorised representative attends the bank with original documents. A power of attorney can work, but it must be legalised and accepted by the bank beforehand. Remote opening for a non-resident structure is rare.
What does an Azerbaijani bank ask a business for?
Registration documents, tax number, ownership structure, a description of the activity, expected turnover and counterparty countries. Since 2022 banks have paid much closer attention to sanctions risk and payments linked to Russia. A bank can request more documents or decline without a detailed explanation.
Are there currency controls in Azerbaijan?
FX operations are regulated, banks monitor cross-border transfers and require supporting documents for contracts. Payments without underlying paperwork do not go through. If you plan regular international settlements, clarify the rules in advance.
