Uzbekistan is a young market that has been gradually opening to foreigners as the economic reforms of recent years progress. Demand is concentrated in Tashkent, where new construction is active. Foreigners can buy property, but with conditions: there is a program under which purchasing housing above a set price threshold entitles the buyer to a residence permit, and the thresholds and rules are revised periodically, so they need to be verified at the time of the transaction. The market operates in local currency, liquidity is limited, and transaction practice with non-residents is still taking shape.
