When is the best time to visit Dushanbe?

April to June and September to October are ideal: warm, and the mountains are open. Summer in the city often hits 35 to 40 degrees, while winter is mild but heating can be patchy in some buildings. The Pamir Highway is mostly a June to September proposition.

How many days do you need in Dushanbe?

The city takes a day or two: Rudaki Park and monument, the National Museum, the flagpole, the Green Bazaar and the Rohat teahouse. Dushanbe mainly works as a base before heading into the mountains, to Iskanderkul, the Fann Mountains or the Pamirs. Allow a week or more for those routes.

Is Dushanbe safe?

The city is calm, street crime is low and foreigners are treated warmly. The constraints are bureaucratic: do not photograph government buildings, soldiers or border zones, and expect occasional document checks. In the mountains the risks are roads and altitude, not crime.

Do you need a visa for Tajikistan?
