Business accounts: France

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident open a business account in France?
Yes - a French company with foreign founders can be set up and banked, though banks take their time with such files. You will need the Kbis extract, articles of association, beneficial owner documents and a clear description of the activity. An account for a foreign company with no French presence is considerably harder.
Do I need an account to deposit share capital?
Yes. When forming an SAS or SARL, the capital goes into a blocked account at a bank or with a notary, and the deposit certificate is required for registration. Once the Kbis is issued, the funds are released and the account becomes operational. This is the stage where refusals most often bite.
What if a French bank refuses my company?
The droit au compte procedure through Banque de France applies: with a written refusal you can have a bank designated that must open a basic account. That gives you a payment minimum, not full service with credit and card acquiring. Many companies run a licensed EU payment institution account alongside.
Do I need to visit in person to open a company account?
Usually yes - the bank wants to meet the signatory, even if part of the process is online. Some online banks and payment providers onboard remotely when the company has a French address. Traditional banks remain wary of remote onboarding for non-residents.
