Investment property: Panama

We act on the buyer's side: shortlist, checks, end-to-end deal support.

Panama is one of the most open markets in Latin America for foreigners: non-residents buy property with the same rights as citizens, the economy is dollarized, and Panama City has long functioned as a regional business hub. Specific restrictions apply to border zones and parts of the island territories, and outside the capital it is essential to distinguish titled property from so-called rights of possession. Panama is widely known for combining real estate with status: the Qualified Investor program grants permanent residency for a real estate investment from USD 300,000, and the Friendly Nations visa includes a route through a property purchase. The market itself is uneven: project quality and liquidity depend heavily on location.

We start with the goal - status, rental, personal use or a combination - and select the property and the neighborhood around it. We then verify title and encumbrances in the public registry, manage the transaction with local lawyers, help with the ownership structure, including Panamanian corporations and foundations where justified, and if needed run the residency process in parallel so that the purchase and the status come together as one coherent plan.

FAQ

Can a foreigner buy property in Panama?
Yes, with the same rights as citizens. Caution is needed with border zones, some islands and properties without full title - the so-called rights of possession, which are not ownership in the usual sense.
Does buying property grant residency in Panama?
Yes, it is one of the well-known routes: the Qualified Investor program grants permanent residency for a real estate investment from USD 300,000. Other visa grounds also exist where a property purchase is one of the options.
Where do we start?
With the goal: status, rental or both. Based on that we choose the district and the type of property, then verify the title in the public registry, and only after that proceed to the deal.
