Investment property: Qatar

We act on the buyer's side: shortlist, checks, end-to-end deal support.

Qatar is a compact market centered on Doha: the West Bay skyline, the man-made Pearl Island and the new city of Lusail completed for the 2022 World Cup. Foreigners may buy property only in designated investment zones - freehold in some districts, long leasehold of up to 99 years in others. Buying a property worth roughly 200,000 US dollars or more entitles the owner to a residence permit for as long as they hold the asset, while investments of around 1 million dollars qualify for permanent resident status with extended privileges. The market is young and driven largely by state megaprojects, so the choice of a specific development and developer matters more here than macro statistics.

We select a property for a specific goal - rental income, residency or capital preservation, vet the developer, title and encumbrances, manage the transaction from reservation to registration and help structure ownership correctly. If residency is the goal, we run the process in parallel: from choosing a property at the right price point to filing the residence permit application. We do not promise returns - we show you the real market conditions and the risks of each project.

FAQ

Can a foreigner buy property in Qatar?
Yes, but only in designated zones. Some areas, including The Pearl and Lusail, offer full freehold ownership, while others offer long leasehold of up to 99 years. Outside these zones foreign purchases are not permitted.
Does buying property in Qatar grant residency?
Yes. Owners of property above the set threshold (around 200,000 US dollars) receive a residence permit for as long as they hold the asset. Investments of roughly 1 million dollars or more qualify for permanent resident status with additional privileges, including access to healthcare and education.
Where do I start with buying property in Qatar?
Start by defining the goal: income, residency or both. We will then shortlist zones and projects for your budget, vet the developer and contract terms, and manage the transaction through registration and, if needed, through to the residence permit.
