Personal accounts: Oman

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident open a bank account in Oman?
Realistically no. The normal path is a residence visa and an Omani ID card. A few banks offer limited non-resident or investment accounts, but that is a niche product rather than something you can count on.
What do I need to open an account as an Oman resident?
A resident ID card, a passport with a valid visa, proof of address and usually a letter from your employer or evidence of income. If you are self-employed or a business owner, the bank looks at your company documents instead of the employment letter.
Will the bank ask where my money came from?
Yes, that is standard. Large credits trigger questions about origin, and incoming international transfers can prompt requests for a contract, a sale document or a tax return. Prepare the paperwork in advance - in the Gulf accounts get frozen quickly and unfrozen slowly.
Does Oman report bank accounts under CRS?
Yes. Oman participates in CRS and exchanges information on accounts held by tax non-residents. The absence of income tax locally does not cancel your obligations at home, and Oman has passed a personal income tax law aimed at high earners that takes effect in 2028, so the regime is worth watching.
