Business accounts: Oman

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a foreign company open a bank account in Oman?
Only through a locally registered entity. Omani banks open accounts for companies holding a commercial registration (CR), whether mainland or in a free zone; a purely foreign entity with no Omani registration will not be onboarded.
Do I need a local partner or Omani director?
Since the 2020 foreign investment law, full foreign ownership is allowed in most activities, so a local partner is no longer a general requirement. The bank, however, still wants a real office, a licensed activity and a signatory who can come to the branch.
What do Omani banks require for a corporate account?
Commercial registration, the constitutive documents, chamber of commerce membership, shareholder and beneficial owner documents, passports and visa status for signatories, and a description of the business with expected volumes. Gulf banks pay particular attention to source of wealth and any link to sanctioned jurisdictions.
How long does it take to open a company account in Oman?
A straightforward local company can be a couple of weeks; foreign shareholders and multi-layer structures take considerably longer. Leave time for legalisation of documents and for Arabic translations where they are required.
