Estonia's Digital Nomad Visa is designed for foreign nationals who work for a company outside the country and for freelancers whose clients are mostly based abroad.

Who is eligible and on what terms

The visa is available to foreign nationals employed by a company outside Estonia, as well as freelancers whose clients are mostly based abroad.

  • Validity. Up to 90 days under the short-stay option or up to 1 year under the long-stay one.
  • Minimum income. You need to prove an income of at least €4,500 per month (gross, before tax) for each of the last 6 months. In 2025 the threshold was raised from €3,504 to €4,500.
  • Taxes. Personal income tax is 22% (in effect since 1 January 2025; the planned increase to 24% from 2026 was cancelled).

A family's expenses come to around €2,600 per month excluding rent, and a single person's - around €800 per month excluding rent. Renting a one-bedroom apartment in the city centre costs around €600 per month.
