Indonesia's old 'nomad visa' no longer exists: since April 2024 it has been replaced by the dedicated E33G Remote Worker KITAS - for people who work remotely for themselves or for a company outside Indonesia.

Visa requirements

Since April 2024 Indonesia issues a dedicated visa for remote workers - the E33G Remote Worker KITAS. It is available to foreign nationals who are self-employed or employed by a company outside Indonesia.

  • Validity - 1 year.
  • Minimum income - $60,000+ per year (~$5,000/month) from foreign sources.
  • Bank balance - a statement showing $2,000+ over the last 3 months.
  • Taxes - personal income tax at 5-35%.

We'll help you gather the documents and file your Indonesia digital nomad visa correctly - tailored to your situation.

FAQ

How much income do I need for the E33G visa?
From $60,000 a year, roughly $5,000 a month, from sources outside Indonesia. You prove it with employment or client contracts plus bank statements. The payer must sit outside the country.
How much money do I need in the bank?
A bank statement showing a balance of at least $2,000 over the last three months. The funds should sit there steadily rather than appear right before filing. Formatting requirements for the statement are confirmed when documents are collected.
How long is the Remote Worker KITAS valid?
The E33G is issued for one year. Indonesia introduced it in April 2024 specifically for remote workers. It can be extended as long as you still meet the income and employment conditions.
Can I work for an Indonesian company on E33G?
No. The visa is for people who are self-employed or hired by a company based outside Indonesia. Local employment requires a different type of work KITAS.
Do I pay tax in Indonesia on this visa?
Indonesian income tax runs from 5% to 35%. It applies once you become a tax resident, including by spending more than 183 days in the country within 12 months. We go through treaty relief options on the consultation.
