Personal accounts: Estonia

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident open a personal account in Estonia?
Realistically, no. Banks require a demonstrated link to Estonia - employment, study, property, a residence permit. Without one they will not take the application, e-Residency included.
Do I need residency for an Estonian bank account?
Formally a proven connection to the country is enough, but a residence permit or registered address is the argument banks understand best. EU citizens have an easier route through the right to a basic payment account. Third country nationals with no status face an uphill battle.
Can I open an Estonian bank account remotely?
Traditional banks nearly always want an in-person visit for a first account; the rare remote routes assume you hold Estonian digital ID. EU payment services onboard online, but that is not a bank account. If you specifically need a bank, plan the trip.
Does Estonia take part in CRS?
Yes. Estonia applies CRS and EU tax information exchange. The bank records your tax residence and reports your account details to your home jurisdiction. You still have your own obligation to declare the account under local rules.
