Business accounts: Estonia

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident open a business account in Estonia?
Registering an Estonian company is easy; getting it a local bank account without a genuine link to the country is very hard. After the money laundering scandals of the late 2010s, Estonian banks largely withdrew from non-resident company business. Real chances exist for businesses with Estonian clients, staff or premises.
Does e-Residency give me a bank account?
No. E-Residency provides digital identity and access to state services; it does not oblige any bank to onboard you and does not by itself count as a link to Estonia. Many e-residents end up using licensed EU payment institutions rather than a traditional bank.
Can I use a payment provider instead of a bank?
Yes. An Estonian company can hold an account with a licensed EU payment or e-money institution, and for many that is the only workable route. Such an account handles settlements and incoming payments, but it carries no banking licence and no deposit guarantee. An EEA institution account is normally also accepted for paying in share capital.
Do I need an Estonian resident director?
Not by law, but if no board member lives in Estonia the company must appoint a local contact person. Banks look wider: where management, clients and staff actually sit. Management run entirely from abroad almost always means a refusal.
