Georgia has no separate active digital nomad visa - and you don't need one: citizens of 95+ countries, including Russia, enter without a visa, stay for up to 365 days and work remotely for a foreign company. The COVID-era Remotely from Georgia program (2020), with its $2,000/month threshold, is effectively closed.

How it works in 2026

The Remotely from Georgia program is closed. It was launched in August 2020 to allow entry while borders were closed - that is where the requirement of $2,000 per month in income or $24,000 in savings came from. Once visa-free travel resumed, the program lost its purpose, and the official e-visa portal no longer lists it.

  • No visa needed. Citizens of 95+ countries, including Russia, enter Georgia visa-free and can stay for 365 days.
  • No income requirements. You do not need to prove monthly income or savings for visa-free entry.
  • Remote work. Working remotely for a foreign company, freelancing or running a business outside Georgia requires no additional permits.

Work permits from 1 March 2026

Since 1 March 2026, Georgia has work permits (Special Labour Permit) - but only for those employed by Georgian employers or self-employed in Georgia. Remote work for foreign companies is not affected.
