Grenada's Citizenship by Investment Program was established in 2013 under the Citizenship by Investment Act, CAP. 54, and is managed by the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU). It lets an applicant and family obtain citizenship in exchange for a contribution to the country's economy.

Legal basis

The legal basis is the Citizenship by Investment Act, CAP. 54 of 2013 and related regulations. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have no criminal record, confirm the legal source of investment funds, pass due diligence, and not be on international sanctions or wanted lists. The application must be submitted through an authorized agent licensed by the Grenadian government — direct applications to the CIU are not accepted.

Two investment options

  • Non-refundable contribution to the National Transformation Fund (NTF). From $235,000 for a single applicant or a family of up to four; each additional dependent adds $25,000.
  • Real estate investment. Purchase of property in an approved government project (usually a resort or hotel) from $270,000. Ownership must be kept for at least 5 years, after which the property can be sold without loss of citizenship.

The overall process takes about 4–6 months, including due diligence, which costs $10,000 for the main applicant and $5,000 for each additional adult dependent.

The application can include a spouse, children under 18, children up to 30 (if financially dependent or in higher education), parents over 55, and unmarried siblings of the main applicant or spouse — all become citizens together with the main investor.

How to get Grenada citizenship: step by step

Choose an authorized agent

Only licensed agents can submit applications. You sign an agreement and go through an initial compliance check (KYC).

Prepare and submit documents

Passports, birth and marriage certificates, police clearance certificates, medical certificates and proof of source of funds are prepared and filed with the CIU.

Due diligence

The CIU checks the applicant's background, financial history and source of funds. Fees are $10,000 for the main applicant and $5,000 per additional adult dependent.

Approval and investment

After approval in principle, the investment is made — either the NTF donation or the real estate purchase — with confirmation sent to the CIU.

Citizenship certificate and passport

Once funds and fees are confirmed, the applicant and family receive Certificates of Registration, and passports are issued shortly after.
