Business accounts: Barbados

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident company open a bank account in Barbados?
Technically yes, but Barbadian banks accept very few foreign companies. They want a clear business purpose, some link to the region and full disclosure of beneficial owners. A shell with no operations is usually declined.
Do I need a local director?
Company law does not require a resident director, but banks look at real presence: an office, staff, contracts, local counterparties. A company run entirely from abroad is a harder sell. A local director or corporate administrator makes the conversation much easier.
What does compliance ask for?
Certified corporate documents, ownership down to individuals, passports and address proof for owners, a business description with expected turnover and counterparties, and the source of the company's capital. Banks often want contracts, invoices and statements from your existing bank. Expect several weeks, longer for layered structures.
What if the bank says no?
Barbadian banks rarely explain a refusal beyond a reference to risk appetite. You can try another local bank with a rebuilt file, or keep the company in Barbados and run payments through a bank or payment institution elsewhere. EMIs often solve the payment problem faster, but they are not a full bank.
