Business accounts: Belize

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can an offshore company open a bank account in Belize?
Yes. A handful of Belize international banks still take non-resident companies, and it is one of the few places where this can be done without flying in. Due diligence is heavy and minimum balances and fees are well above a normal onshore bank. No agent can guarantee approval.
What is the catch with Belize banks?
Correspondent banking. After the wave of de-risking in the Caribbean, USD payments can be slower, more expensive and routed through fewer channels, and some banks left the sector entirely. Relying on Belize as your only operating account is risky for an active business.
What does compliance ask for?
A full certified corporate pack, ownership down to individuals, a business description with counterparties, proof of where the capital came from, and often a bank or professional reference letter. Belize companies face economic substance requirements for certain activities, so expect questions about that too.
Will European partners accept a Belize account?
Not always. An offshore account is a risk flag for the counterparty's bank, so payments may be delayed or queried. Many companies keep Belize as a backup and run core settlements through a bank or payment institution in the EU, UAE or Asia.
