Business accounts: Germany

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a foreigner open a company account in Germany?
Yes - a non-resident can set up a GmbH or UG and act as managing director; German law does not require the director to live in Germany. The bank is the harder part: without a German address, local substance and a clear customer base many banks say no. You also need a blocked capital account before the company is entered in the commercial register.
Do I need a German resident director for the account?
Not legally. In practice the bank looks for a real link to Germany - premises, staff, a tax number, German customers. A company run entirely from abroad is refused far more often.
How long does it take to open a GmbH bank account?
The capital contribution account is usually the quick part; a full operating account after registration can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months. Beneficial owner checks, translations and apostilles on foreign documents are what stretch the timeline. No bank will commit to a date.
What if a German bank turns my company down?
Refusal without reasons is normal - no bank is obliged to take on a business client. People move to another bank or to a fintech with a German IBAN, but notaries and the register normally expect a bank statement as proof of paid-in share capital. Fintech works for day to day payments, not for every step.
