Business accounts: Paraguay

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a foreigner open a company bank account in Paraguay?
Yes, provided the company is registered in Paraguay as an SA or SRL, has a RUC tax number and a legal representative holding a Paraguayan ID card. A foreign entity with no local registration will not get an account here.
Do I need residency or a local director in Paraguay?
A foreigner can own the company, but the person who signs and turns up at the bank in practice needs a cedula, which means residency first. Sequence it that way: residency, then company, then bank.
What do Paraguayan banks ask a company for?
Constitutive documents, the RUC, proof of address, shareholder and beneficial owner documents, the legal representative's cedula, a description of the activity and proof of source of funds. Banks normally expect the representative in person and offer accounts in guaranies and US dollars.
How long does it take to open a corporate account in Paraguay?
Think in weeks. Company registration and the RUC run on their own track, and the bank then does its own review. Many businesses use local payment services and cooperatives alongside a bank, but cross-border settlement needs the bank.
