Business accounts: Thailand

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a foreigner open a bank account for a Thai company?
Yes, if the company is registered in Thailand and the corporate file is complete. The bank expects a director signatory at the branch, and for a foreign director it often asks for a work permit or a long-stay visa.
Do I need a Thai director or partner?
For many activities the Foreign Business Act requires majority Thai ownership, a licence or BOI status. Your ownership structure directly shapes how the bank views the client and which documents it demands.
Do I need a work permit to sign on a company account?
For a foreign signatory banks usually want a work permit, or at minimum a long-stay visa and a local address. On tourist status a corporate account is much harder to get and some banks will not do it at all.
Can a foreign company open a Thai account without registering locally?
In practice, no. Non-resident baht accounts exist under central bank rules, but retail branches rarely handle such clients. The normal route is to incorporate a Thai company first.
