Switzerland is one of the most stable and, at the same time, most tightly regulated property markets in the world. The Lex Koller act applies to non-residents: buying residential property as a foreigner without a Swiss residence permit requires a special authorization, and these are mainly granted for holiday homes in tourist cantons under limited quotas. Commercial property, by contrast, can be bought by foreigners without restriction. Switzerland has no residence or citizenship program tied to property: a purchase on its own does not give you the right to live in the country. This is a market for capital preservation and predictability, not for quick migration outcomes.
