Taiwan is a developed but essentially domestic property market: demand comes from Taiwanese buyers, and Taipei is the business and price center. For foreigners the reciprocity principle applies: a citizen of another country may buy property in Taiwan only if that country allows Taiwanese citizens to buy property there. As a result, the market is effectively closed or heavily restricted for nationals of some countries, and buyers from mainland China face separate strict limitations. Taiwan has no residence or citizenship program tied to property, so this market does not work as an investment migration tool.
