Business accounts: Chile

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

How does a company open a bank account in Chile?
The company is first registered and issued a RUT tax number by the SII, and only then will a bank consider opening a current account. The decisive condition is a legal representative with a Chilean RUT whom the bank can identify in person. Without that, the conversation usually does not start.
Does the legal representative have to live in Chile?
The law does not always demand residency outright, but banks nearly always want a representative with a RUT, a local address and often legal status in the country. Chilean banks are conservative and favour clients with a visible local anchor. This is where most foreign owners get stuck.
What does the bank want from a newly formed company?
Incorporation documents, the registry extract, the RUT, a description of the business or a plan, turnover forecasts and proof of where the capital came from. A company with no trading history is often offered a simplified account rather than a full current account. Refusals at the start-up stage are common here.
How long does the decision take?
Anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months, since the bank vets the company, the representative and the money. Only a complete file speeds it up; there is no paid fast track. Until the account exists, international payment providers can cover part of your flows, but local taxes and payroll will still need a Chilean account.
