Business accounts: Norway

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident open a business account in Norway?
Technically yes if the company is registered in Norway and has an organisation number, but this is one of the hardest markets in Europe for foreigners. The bank wants a Norwegian connection: an address, real activity, local counterparties and a signatory with a national identity number or a D-number.
Does a Norwegian AS need a resident director?
An AS is subject to residence requirements for the general manager and part of the board - as a rule they must live in Norway or be citizens and residents of an EEA state or the UK. Check the current wording before you incorporate, because the whole structure depends on it.
How do I pay in share capital without a Norwegian account?
This is the classic chicken and egg problem: the capital (a minimum of NOK 30,000 for an AS) has to be paid in before registration, while banks open accounts for companies that already exist. It is solved with a dedicated share capital deposit account at a Norwegian bank, or with an auditor confirmation; agree the route with the bank in advance.
What if a Norwegian bank turns my company down?
Refusals are common and the bank does not owe you a reason. The realistic options are a bank where the beneficial owner already has a personal history, a licensed EEA payment institution for operating payments, or building genuine presence in Norway first and coming back with it.
