Business accounts: Sweden

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a foreigner open a business account in Sweden?
Technically yes if the company is registered with Bolagsverket, but Sweden is one of the hardest markets in the EU. After the large money laundering cases Swedish banks tightened onboarding sharply and routinely turn down companies with no real activity in the country.
Do I need a Swedish personal number to run a company account?
The account belongs to the company, but operating it without a personnummer or coordination number and without BankID is close to impossible. Identification and document signing in Sweden are built around BankID.
How long do Swedish banks take to decide?
Weeks, sometimes months, and a refusal usually arrives with no real explanation. Applications often bounce after several rounds of questions about owners, turnover and source of funds.
What is the alternative to a Swedish bank account?
Many companies run on licensed payment institutions and EMIs in the EEA, which issue IBANs and handle SEPA and Swedish krona. A Swedish bank account is not legally required for most operations, though card acquiring and credit are easier to get from a bank.
