Investment property: Sweden

We act on the buyer's side: shortlist, checks, end-to-end deal support.

Sweden is a market fully open to foreigners: anyone can buy property here, with no permits and no nationality restrictions. It is a mature, transparent market with a reliable state title registry, and most activity is concentrated in Stockholm and the other major cities. One nuance is worth understanding upfront: a large share of urban apartments is sold as bostadsratt - a share in a housing cooperative rather than direct ownership - and the cooperative board approves the buyer. Sweden has no residency or citizenship by real estate programs - a purchase does not grant the right to live in the country.

We help you navigate the local specifics before the deal: how a cooperative apartment differs from direct ownership, what obligations the owner takes on and how Sweden's typical bidding-based purchase process works. We source property for your goal, verify legal cleanliness and the cooperative's financial health, manage the transaction and help structure ownership. If your goal is living in Sweden, we will tell you honestly that property will not achieve that, and explain which immigration grounds exist. We work without return promises.

FAQ

Can a foreigner buy property in Sweden?
Yes, with no restrictions and no special permits. The one nuance is cooperative apartments (bostadsratt), where the cooperative board has to approve the buyer.
Does buying property in Sweden grant a residence permit?
No. Sweden has no residency or citizenship by real estate programs. The right to live in the country is obtained on other grounds, such as work, business, study or family.
Where do I start with buying property in Sweden?
With a consultation: we define your goal, the city and the right form of ownership - direct title or cooperative. We then prepare a shortlist, check the properties and manage the transaction, including the bidding process.
