Moldova is a small market concentrated in Chisinau, with prices that are low by European standards and limited liquidity. Foreigners can buy apartments and commercial premises, but not agricultural land - it is closed to foreign buyers. The citizenship-by-investment program launched in 2018 was wound down in 2020 and no longer operates; there is no separate golden visa through real estate either. Buying a home does not grant any status by itself, though owning property is useful when applying for residency on other grounds - employment, business or family reunification. This is a niche market: it makes sense for people with a personal or business connection to the country rather than as an abstract investment.
