Business accounts: Moldova

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non resident open an account for a Moldovan company?
Yes - a foreigner can register an SRL and open an account with a local bank. The bank will want to see a real link to Moldova: counterparties, staff, a lease, actual operations. After the 2014 banking fraud the sector was cleaned up hard, and compliance is stricter than most people expect.
Do I need a Moldovan resident director?
The law does not require one - a foreigner can be director. In practice banks prefer someone who can walk into the branch, holds a local identification number and sometimes a work permit. A company run entirely from abroad has weaker odds of getting an account.
What does compliance ask for in a Moldovan bank?
An extract from the state registry, the charter, the resolution appointing the director, beneficial ownership details, a description of the business, expected turnover and counterparty countries, and source of capital. Banks are sensitive to payments involving Russia and Belarus because they depend on EU correspondent banks. The clearer your payment chain, the fewer questions.
Does Moldova IT Park status help with banking?
Residents of Moldova IT Park pay a single turnover-based tax at a preferential rate, and the status helps explain a clean IT business model to the bank. It does not guarantee an account: the bank still checks the beneficial owner, contracts and source of funds. Treat it as an argument in your favour, not a pass.
