Personal accounts: Croatia

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident open a bank account in Croatia?
Yes, Croatian banks take non-residents more readily than banks in many other EU countries. You will need a passport and an OIB, the Croatian identification number, which non-residents can obtain from the tax administration. A branch visit is almost always required.
Do I need residency for an account?
No, a residence permit is not required, though holding one gets you better terms and fewer questions. Non-residents are given a non-resident account, which can carry separate fees and a narrower product range. Loans and mortgages are generally off the table for non-residents.
Is there a minimum balance?
An ordinary current account normally has no hard minimum balance; the cost sits in the monthly package and card fees. Non-resident accounts are typically priced higher. Check the current fee schedule before signing, as banks revise it.
Does Croatia report accounts under CRS?
Yes, as an EU member Croatia applies both CRS and the EU's own exchange of tax information. You declare your country of tax residence when opening, and account data is reported there. A euro-area account buys you convenience and SEPA payments, not privacy.
