Personal accounts: Czech Republic

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident open a bank account in the Czech Republic?
Yes, Czech banks do open accounts for foreigners, including non-residents, though requirements vary. You normally need a passport plus a second ID, and non-EU nationals are often asked for proof of their stay or address as well. Different branches of the same bank can read the rules differently.
Do I need a residence permit and a Czech address?
A residence permit is not universally required, but with a residence card and a local address the account is faster to get and cheaper to run. Without status you may be offered a non-resident account with a reduced product range, or turned down. Credit products effectively always require residency and local income.
Can I open the account online from abroad?
Fully remote onboarding for foreigners is rare and usually depends on video identification that not every bank supports. It is more practical to come once in person, or use an EU fintech with an IBAN in the meantime. Treat promises of a remote account through an intermediary with caution.
Will a Czech bank report my account to my home country?
Yes. The Czech Republic applies CRS and EU tax information exchange, so the residency you declare at onboarding determines where your account data is sent. Holding the account does not change your tax status by itself. The default currency is the Czech koruna, though euro accounts are available too.
