Investment property: Liberia
We act on the buyer's side: shortlist, checks, end-to-end deal support.
Let us be direct: Liberia is not a market for classic cross-border real estate investment. The country's constitution reserves land ownership for Liberian citizens - foreigners, whether individuals or foreign companies, cannot own land. The format available to foreigners is long-term leasehold, used by businesses operating in the country for offices, warehouses and production facilities. The market is small, concentrated in Monrovia, with limited liquidity and a weak title registration infrastructure. No residency or citizenship program tied to property purchase exists in Liberia. If someone offers to sell you freehold land in Liberia as a foreigner - that is a reason for caution, not investment.
Our work on Liberia starts with an honest feasibility assessment: whether long-term leasehold fits your objective, what rights it actually confers, and how to protect them. From there we verify the legal status of the plot and the lessor, support negotiations and the lease agreement with local counsel involved, and structure the arrangement through a legal entity where justified. If your real goal is an asset in Africa broadly rather than Liberia specifically, we will also show you neighboring jurisdictions where foreign investors' rights are better protected.
