Business accounts: Liberia

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a company open a bank account in Liberia?
The local banking sector is small and built around the domestic economy, so an account for a foreign company with no local operations is effectively out of reach. Even where a bank agrees, international payment capability is limited by a narrow set of correspondent relationships. It is a poor base for cross border business.
Where do Liberian companies actually bank?
Liberia is known for its corporate and shipping registry rather than its banks: companies are registered here and banked elsewhere. The account is sought where the business has a genuine link - partners, clients or management. Holding a Liberian company opens no doors on its own.
What will a bank ask a Liberian company for?
A full apostilled registry pack, ownership down to the beneficial owner, a business description and an explanation of why the company sits in Liberia. An offshore registration with no operating logic reads as a red flag. Expect questions about actual activity, tax residence and place of effective management.
Is Liberia a sensible base for international payments?
Usually not. Correspondent bank compliance treats the region cautiously, so payments are more often pulled for manual review and delayed. If you need working payment rails rather than a registration flag, pick a jurisdiction with real banking access.
