Personal accounts: Luxembourg

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident open a bank account in Luxembourg?
A retail account for a non-resident with no link to the country is hard to get; banks are not chasing small foreign clients. The realistic routes are working or living there, or approaching private banking with substantial assets. Wanting a euro account for storage is a weak reason on its own.
How much do you need for private banking in Luxembourg?
Each bank sets its own entry threshold and it is high - this is a wealth segment, not retail. Only the specific bank can tell you its minimum; there is no published common standard. Beyond the threshold, factor in management and account fees.
Can I open a Luxembourg account remotely?
Parts of the process can sometimes be done at a distance, especially for EU residents or clients introduced by an adviser. For new non-resident clients banks usually ask for a meeting or notarised identification. Fully remote onboarding is the exception.
Will a Luxembourg bank report my account to my country?
Yes. Luxembourg participates in automatic exchange under CRS and in EU reporting rules, and the old banking secrecy no longer applies for tax purposes. Account and balance data goes to your country of tax residence every year.
