Business accounts: Luxembourg

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a holding company open an account in Luxembourg?
Yes, servicing holding and investment structures is what this jurisdiction does. The bank will still want to see the real purpose of the structure, the ultimate beneficial owners and the origin of the capital. An empty holding shell with no assets and no rationale generally does not get through.
Does the company need substance in Luxembourg?
There is no formal rule, but since substance requirements tightened banks look at where decisions are made and whether there is a local director, office or administrator. A Luxembourg company run entirely from abroad raises questions with the bank and the tax authorities alike. A local administrator makes onboarding noticeably easier.
What does a Luxembourg corporate account cost?
More than mass market retail banking next door: banks charge for file opening, maintenance, payments and sometimes for holding balances. There is no standard price list, and terms are negotiated against your structure and volumes. Ask for the fee schedule in writing before you apply.
How long does onboarding take in Luxembourg?
Typically weeks, and longer for complex international structures because of follow up questions. Speed depends mostly on how complete your file is: articles, UBO register, financials, business description and source of capital. Promises of a two day opening are not realistic here.
