Business accounts: India

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a foreign company open a bank account in India?
Not directly - you normally need an Indian vehicle: a subsidiary, a branch or a project office. Incorporation runs through the companies registry and needs a PAN, digital signatures and director identification numbers. Currency flows fall under FEMA, and several steps must be reported to the Reserve Bank of India.
Do I need an Indian resident director?
Yes. Company law requires an Indian company to have at least one director who spent at least 182 days in India in the previous financial year. This is not a bank preference - it is a condition for the company to exist.
Are there limits on foreign investment into India?
Yes. Some sectors are closed or need government approval, sectoral caps apply, and investment from countries sharing a land border with India goes through a separate approval route. Once capital arrives, the company must report the share issue within a set deadline. Sort out the structure before you send money.
How long does an Indian corporate account take?
Incorporation moves reasonably fast with a clean document set; the account usually takes weeks while the bank checks papers, beneficial owners and the investor's exchange control status. Delays typically come from legalising foreign documents and from source of capital checks. Banks do not guarantee timelines.

Don’t want to figure this out alone?
