Business accounts: Marshall Islands

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a Marshall Islands company open a bank account?
Yes, but almost never in the Marshall Islands themselves - the local banking sector is tiny and serves residents, government bodies and shipping. In practice these companies bank abroad, in Asia, the Middle East or Eastern Europe, or use payment institutions. Expect a long review: this is a classic zero-tax offshore jurisdiction and banks treat such structures with caution.
Do I need a local director or office in the Marshall Islands?
The registrar requires neither a resident director nor a real office, and a non resident can own and run the company. Economic substance rules have applied since 2019 to certain activities, and banks apply their own logic on top of that. The more genuine operations, staff and contracts you can show anywhere in the world, the better your chances.
How long does it take to open an account for an offshore company?
Usually weeks rather than days. Time goes into collecting and apostilling corporate documents, filling in questionnaires, answering follow-up compliance questions and sometimes a video interview with the beneficial owner. Requests tend to come in waves, so build in a buffer and reply fast - delays on your side stretch the process the most.
The bank refused my Marshall Islands company - what now?
Banks rarely explain a refusal and you cannot appeal it. The fix is usually the structure, not the bank: show a link to the bank's country, real counterparties, signed contracts and accounts. In parallel look at EMIs and payment providers, though many of them also decline offshore jurisdictions.
