Business accounts: Nauru

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a company open a bank account in Nauru?
No. There is no functioning business banking sector on the island, settlement runs in Australian dollars through very limited banking access, and the offshore banking licences of the 1990s were revoked. A company has to be registered and banked in another jurisdiction.
Why do banks react badly to Nauru?
In the 1990s the country issued offshore banking licences at scale and ended up on the FATF blacklist before the regime was dismantled. That history still shapes compliance reactions: any mention of Nauru in a structure triggers extra questions. There is no practical upside to the connection today.
Where should a Pacific-focused business bank instead?
Australia, New Zealand, Singapore or Fiji are the usual options, depending on where the business actually operates. Even there, non resident companies face strict onboarding: real activity, a local signatory and a clean ownership chain. There is no easy route in the region.
Do payment providers help?
For cross-border settlement an EMI or payment provider is often more practical than a bank, but they also screen the company's jurisdiction and the beneficial owner. A micro-state company with no operations will not be accepted everywhere or quickly. Check the provider's policy before you incorporate anything.
