Business accounts: Lithuania

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident company open an account in Lithuania?
Traditional Lithuanian banks are cautious with foreign companies that have no link to the country and often decline. It is easier if the company is registered in Lithuania and has local staff, an office or EU clients. Many non-resident businesses end up using Lithuanian payment institutions instead.
Bank or EMI - which is better for a company?
A bank gives you the full set: deposits, deposit insurance, credit, card acquiring, but it screens harder and takes longer. An EU licensed payment institution gives you an account and SEPA details faster, though funds are not insured and services are limited to payments. Many companies run operations through an EMI and keep reserves at a bank.
How long does a Lithuanian corporate account take?
It depends on the bank and the structure: a simple local company clears faster than an international group with several ownership layers. Think weeks rather than days, with follow up requests along the way. Having the document pack ready in advance shortens it more than anything else.
Do I need to travel to Lithuania to open a business account?
Some banks and payment institutions verify a director remotely by video, others insist on meeting in person. Complex structures and larger volumes attract an in-person request more often. Confirm the format before applying so you do not book a trip for nothing.
