Business accounts: Czech Republic

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a non-resident open a company account in the Czech Republic?
Yes, a foreigner can own and direct a Czech s.r.o. and open its bank account. The bank will want corporate documents, beneficial owner details and normally an in-person meeting with the director. Some banks are comfortable with foreign directors and some are not, so bank choice matters.
Do I need a Czech resident director?
There is no director residency requirement; non-EU nationals need permits to work in the country, but simply owning the company does not require them. The bank looks at transparency of the structure and the link to the Czech market, not at your passport. A local office, contracts and clients all help.
What does the bank ask for on a corporate account?
The commercial register extract, articles of association, identification of beneficial owners who are also recorded in the Czech UBO register, a business description, expected turnover and the countries you will transact with. EU AML rules apply, so source of capital has to be documented. Dormant companies with opaque ownership get refused.
How long does it take and is there an alternative to a bank?
With documents ready, expect a few days to a couple of weeks; verifying foreign beneficial owners adds time. Many businesses run an EU payment institution with an IBAN alongside the bank, but taxes, payroll and local counterparties are easier with a classic bank account. A bank will not explain a refusal, so you simply try the next one.
