Personal accounts: Lithuania

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

We assess your chances against your profile, prepare the compliance file, help you present your source of funds properly and handle communication with the bank until it decides. The final decision always rests with the bank, so no one can guarantee an opening - careful preparation simply improves the odds.

We quote the exact cost for this country after a short consultation: it depends on the bank and your residency. The quote is fixed in writing before work starts.

FAQ

Can a foreigner open a personal account in Lithuania?
EU citizens and holders of a Lithuanian residence permit are onboarded fairly easily. Third country non-residents have a harder time and need a reason: work, studies, property or family in the country. With no link to Lithuania a bank may refuse, and usually does.
Can I open a Lithuanian account remotely?
Some banks and fintech providers offer remote verification by video and e-signature, mostly for EU citizens and residents. Everyone else generally has to appear in person at a branch. Services promising anyone a Lithuanian account in a day are usually EMIs, not banks.
Is there a minimum balance at Lithuanian banks?
Retail accounts usually have no fixed minimum balance, but there is a monthly maintenance fee, and it is often higher for non-residents. Transfers, cards and dormant accounts carry charges too. Compare the fee schedules first - the spread between banks is real.
Do I owe Lithuanian tax if I hold an account there?
An account alone does not create tax residence; you are taxed where you are resident. That said, Lithuania is an EU country and takes part in automatic exchange, so your account data reaches your tax authority. Deposit interest may be taxed at source, so check the specific product.
